Bamboo Houses: Rebuilding a Sustainable Community (Zoomin TV)

RAMBUCHE, ECUADOR – A new step in sustainable architecture – After the major earthquake hit Ecuador in 2016, many people on the coast are still living in tents or makeshift homes out of scraps of wood and metal sheets.
But some organizations are helping rebuild homes out of bamboo – a flexible material that´s resistant to earthquakes, grown locally, and cheaper.

Un nuevo paso en la arquitectura sostenible – Después del gran terremoto en Ecuador en 2016, muchas personas en la costa todavía viven en carpas o casas improvisadas con trozos de madera y hojas de metal.
Pero algunas organizaciones están ayudando a reconstruir casas con bambú – un material flexible que es resistente a los terremotos, crecido localmente, y más barato.
